Dr. Rajaram Mathu Patil, 90, of Belton, passed away peacefully April 1, 2022 in his home.
Dr. Patil was born in Maharastra ,India on December 27, 1931, the son of Mathu and Prabha Patil. He married Saroj Sagne on April 25, 1959 in Gwalior, India. He went to medical school In India and taught anatomy to medical students after completing his Masters in Anatomy.
He then pursued his General Surgery residency in England before moving to Canada for 8 years , North Dakota for one year and finally to Texas in 1978. He was a general surgeon in Silsbee, Texas for more than 30 years. In retirement, he and his wife moved to Belton, Texas.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Saroj Patil, sons, Dr. Sam Patil and Prabhakar "Pakki" Patil; one daughter, Dr. Sarla Patil and son-in-law,Vishe Muni; and two granddaughters, Asha Patil and Shreya Muni.
However, his greatest achievement in life was not his degrees nor his family but his gentle and kind ways with his patients and his indomitable belief in the goodness of Humanity and of a Higher Power beyond this world.
In lieu of flower, memorials may be to donated to Doctors Without Borders or the choice of your charity benefiting the poor.
