Dorothy McDaniel Baird
March 31, 1924 – April 1, 2019
Dorothy Baird, 95, of Belton passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2019 after living a very full and happy life. “Dottie” was born to Ottis and Valerie McDaniel on March 31, 1924 in Edcouch, Texas and married Glenn R. Baird,Sr. April 3, 1943 in Mercedes,Tx.
She never met a stranger and was well-known around Belton.
She was involved in many activities: Eastern Star officer, her church and Sunday School Class at Belton First Baptist Church and her Saturday evenings at Anchor of Hope Fellowship, PTA, and Scouts with her boys. She loved to travel and she was always ready-to-go just about anywhere. Her love for travel took her around the states, the Mid-East, Hawaii, Mexico, and numerous other places. She was an avid reader in her younger years and had a special interest in history and politics. She was always ready to play cards when she could capture one of her grandchildren for an evening or maybe the weekend. When she wasn’t reading, traveling and playing cards with her grandchildren, she loved to fish!
Dottie is preceded in death by her husband Glenn R. Baird,Sr., grandson Charles Baird and great granddaughter, Avery Williams; siblings Melvin McDaniel, Raymond McDaniel, Glen McDaniel, Pat Smith, and Eugenia Brockton.
Dottie is survived by her four sons Glenn, Rex, Gary and Craig Baird all of Belton, her great-granddaughter, Stephenie Evans and two sisters, Betty Lancaster and Peggy Walker.
She is blessed with eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9-10 am on Thursday, April 4 at Dossman Funeral Home of Belton.
Funeral service will follow visitation at 10:00 AM.
Interment service will be at McDowell cemetery in Belton.
