Doris Lanelle Welch

Graveside services for Doris Lanelle Welch, 85, of Moody, will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Moody Cemetery with Rev. Tom Shelton officiating.

The family will receive friends for visitation Friday evening from 5-7 PM at Dossman Funeral Home Chapel in Belton.

Mrs. Welch died Tuesday, January 26, 2021, in a Temple assisted living facility.

Mrs. Welch was born May 28, 1935 in Moody, the daughter of Ivy and Doris Goode. She married Bobby Gene Welch, July 19, 1952, in Moody at the Willow Grove Baptist Church. She has been a church pianist since 1950, playing at Willow Grove Baptist Church, at churches in Mississippi and Tennessee and at First Baptist Church in Moody. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Moody. Mrs. Welch taught geography and algebra at Belton High School for 27 years.

She was a farmer's wife. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling and camping.

Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her parents, husband May 21, 2014 and a brother, Bill Goode.

Survivors include two sons Otis Odell Welch (Ellen) of Moody and James Eric Welch (Ralph) of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters Cynthia Henager (Kenneth) of Moody and Dana Pitts (Terry) of Belfalls; seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Moody.
