Doris Evelyn (Gilley) Davis Jaksic, 88, of Harker Heights passed away at her home on Monday, December 16, 2019 after a short illness.
A memorial service for Mrs. Jaksic will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 3:00 PM at the Belton Church of Christ in Belton. She will be laid to rest on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Killeen City Cemetery.
Doris was born on October 28, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to William "Bill" and Etta Mae Gilley. She received her Bachelor's Degree and later her Master's of Education Degree. Mrs. Jaksic moved to Killeen in 1975 where she taught for KISD. She retired from teaching in 1992 and was a longtime member of the Belton Church of Christ. Doris married Dr. Thomas Davis on August 25, 1955 in Abilene, Texas and they were married for 46 years before he passed away in 2001. In 2006 she married Mario Jaksic. Mrs. Jaksic was a loving mother and grandmother who was known for her beautiful hand made cards she would give as gifts. She volunteered at Christian farms and was a frequent visitor to the elderly in nursing homes.
Mrs. Jaksic was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Thomas Davis in 2001 as well as a daughter Debi Weekley in 2005. She is survived by one son, Jeff Davis and his wife Daphne, grandchildren Spencer, Victoria, Luke, Hannah, and Andrew Davis all of Ft. Worth, and grandchildren Chelsea Bratton, Ariel Simpson, Zoe Cuzalina, and Max Weekley, and two great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-3 PM at the Belton Church of Christ.
Dossman Funeral Home in Belton is in charge of the arrangements.
