Doreen E. Mcconnell

Doreen Empress (Evans) McConnell, 66, of Copperas Cove passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at a Killeen hospital.

A celebration of life for Doreen will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 1:00 PM at For Whosoever Will Ministries, 3310 Florence Road in Killeen with Bishop Shaver officiating.

Doreen was born on March 16, 1955 in Washington, D.C. to William and Midoriko (Koiso) Evans. She grew up in several different cities as her father was in the military, settling in Killeen, where she graduated from Killeen High School. Doreen married Max McConnell on December 8, 2012 at For Whosoever Will Ministries in Killeen. Mrs. McConnell owned a cleaning service in the Central Texas area for many years and was active at her church on the worship team as well as working with children at the church.

Mrs. McConnell was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Billy Evans. She is survived by her husband Max of Copperas Cove; daughters Shala Fondren and her husband Billy Eakin of Grandbury, and Cheri O'Braden and her husband Eric of Belton; son Shaun Alford of North Carolina; brother Charles Evans of Allegan, MI.; and sisters Teri Vodrey and her husband Marvin of Temple and Debbie Odom and her husband Junior of Killeen. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters; in-laws Emma R. McConnell and Norman Oplinger of Copperas Cove; brother-in-law Larry McConnell; sister-in-law Silvia Martinez and her husband Rob; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dossman Funeral Home in Belton is in charge of the arrangements.
