Donna Ann (Sodek) Baird of Belton went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 in Temple after a brief illness at the age of 72.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, September 25, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Rev. Mike Baggerly officiating. The funeral will be live streamed at dossmanfh.com by clicking the link at the bottom of her obituary. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery. A visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 PM on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Donna was born on September 6, 1948 to Johnny R. and Beatrice (Brocker) Sodek in Temple, Texas. She attended Temple High School. Mrs. Baird married Charles A. Baird on September 26, 1964. They had 3 daughters, Cherie Lynn Baird, Trisha Dawn Dayton (Mike) of Temple, and Tracy Marie Baird LeBlanc (Ryan) of San Antonio. She lived in the Temple-Belton area most of her life. Donna was very active in softball leagues in the area, playing co-ed ball and coaching the Superior Chaircraft teams for many years. She was instrumental in starting up a handicap softball league for the youth in Belton, and was a longtime devoted supporter of the Belton High School Lady Tiger softball teams. Donna loved the outdoors, especially fishing at Barefoot and Lemon Camps in the San Saba area, and she spent much of her time in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mrs. Baird was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Belton.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Cherie Baird, and an infant brother, Gerald Sodek. She is survived by her husband of almost 56 years, Charles, of Belton; daughters Trisha and Tracy, sisters Sharon (Bill) Zeinert of Belton; Susan (DC) Wisehert of Hobson; Cindy (Tom) Palatino of Belton; brother John "Bubba" (Kim) Sodek of Belton. Also surviving are grandchildren Stephen Ralston, Mike Thompson, Alicia VanCleave, Addisyn LeBlanc, and Gunner LeBlanc, as well as a great grandchild Harloe Blair.
