Dennis Terry Roy

January 18, 1943 — November 18, 2023

Dennis Roy, loving husband, father, grandfather, “great” great grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 18, 2023, following a one-year battle with cancer.

Dennis was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 18, 1943, to Zera and Oscar Roy. He and his wife of over 45 years, Cleo, met each other in the second grade and were high school sweethearts. Together they lived a beautiful life full of celebration, generosity, and togetherness. More than anything, Dennis loved his family. From a sports game to a play, if his kids or grandkids were participating, he would be there. He was a fierce advocate for education and was so proud of his kids and grandkids academic accomplishments.

Dennis graduated from the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy in 1966 and had the privilege of being a licensed pharmacist at Baylor Scott and White Hospital for 43 years as well as 25 years as a nuclear pharmacist. He volunteered at the Body of Christ Community Clinic for 15 years.

Dennis was blessed to be a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for the past 46 years and to serve faithfully there. He loved the world God created and enjoyed the ocean and the mountains all his life. He was also an avid golfer and loved fishing with friends. He took great joy in vacations with his family from snow skiing to a cruise, any trip with his family was bound to be a favorite. Dennis had a gift for making strangers into friends. He was loved by all that he met.

Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cleo Roy, along with his parents Oscar and Zera Roy,  stepfather R.C. Ham and brother Gary Roy.

Dennis will be greatly missed by his daughters and sons-in-law, Terry and Ron Longoria and Lisa and J.R. Winkler. Four grandsons and their wives Brett and Kayla Winkler, Tyler and Shawna Winkler, Jared and Jordan Longoria, Aaron and Karen Longoria along with their three children Samuel, Julia, and Elizabeth Longoria; and sister Vickie Edwards and husband Ken.  He is also survived by his dear companion Cathy Barth; and nieces and nephews, Brandi Roy, Casey Roy, Ryan Edwards, Britni Brattlof, Gregg Jones, Bart Jones, Steve Jones, Rance Jones, Todd Jones, Sam Billings and Bobby Billings.

The family extends sincere appreciation to Dr. Rex Garland, Dr. Clay Gowan, Dr. Jennifer Fan, Jonnie Appleton RN, the oncology treatment nurses, and the nurses of the North Tower on the 8th floor. The family gratefully acknowledges Pastor Dr. Ron Milne as well as all beloved members of Immanuel Baptist Church of Temple.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Dossman Funeral Home, 2525 North Main, Belton, Texas.
