Dennis John Gay

Dennis John Gay, 64, of Temple passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at his home in Temple.

A memorial service for Dennis will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Taylor's Valley Baptist Church in Temple with Rev. Jared Burt officiating.

Dennis was born on November 28, 1956 in Norfolk, Virginia to Johnny and Margaret (Taylor) Gay. He was raised in Houston, graduating from high school there. He attended Houston Community College in Houston where he obtained his Associate's Degree. Dennis began a long career with the Houston Police Department, retiring in 2001 after 18 years with Houston PD. Dennis moved to Temple in 2008 from Tyler. He was a member of Taylor's Valley Baptist Church in Temple for many years.

Survivors include his wife Amellia of Temple; daughters Cherina Bornscheuer of Brooksville, Florida; Amanda Gay of Temple; Taylor Tran of Houston; and Taresa Frederick of Austin; step son Chad Frederick of Longview; brother Bill Fennell of Germany; sister Tammy Gruver of Arlington; as well as seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to: Serenity Saviors Equine Rescue and Therapy Center, 15369 Daly Road, Brooksville, Florida, 34601.

Dossman Funeral Home in Belton is in charge of the arrangements.
