Delores Pitts

November 6, 1934 — January 7, 2021

Delores (Dee) Elaine Young Pitts beloved daughter, sister, mother and officer’s wife born November 06, 1934 passed away on January 07, 2021.

Dee was born and raised in Kansas. She attended and graduated from Hays State College with a bachelor’s degree in Education. Her first job was teaching Kindergarten in Salina, KS where she would meet First Lt. Charles R. Pitts, her beloved husband of 63 years. They would marry in Kansas, travel the world with the Air Force, and settle in Fort Worth.

Dee was the “glue” that bound the Pitts family and kept us a strong military family. While dad was flying B-52’s during the cold war from Bangor, ME, reconnaissance during the Vietnam War or intelligence for NATO, mom was the one that made our home a home. She made sure we made it to school on time, attended birthday parties with a gift or baseball games in clean uniforms. She will be greatly missed.

Dee’s love for children was always apparent. Dee would teach for the FWISD when they returned to Ft. Worth, and taught Kindergarten again. She enjoyed teaching children to read, going to the Children’s Museum or an excursion to the Ft. Worth Zoo. One of her favorite activities was rocking the babies in the church nursery and helping in the nursery when they needed an extra hand.

Dee is survived by her husband Charles (Charlie) R. Pitts, Col. USAF, Ret. Belton, TX, daughter Kristen Jefferson and husband Dave Jefferson of Belton, TX, son Russell (Russ) Pitts and wife Lynn Carnes-Pitts, Lake Lure, NC, son Andrew Pitts and wife Leslie Echols-Pitts, Colleyville, TX. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Michael Jefferson, Anna Jefferson, Nolan Pitts, and Dillon Pitts.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Luvida Memory Care for their compassion and care. Dee was a resident at the facility and under hospice care, and they made the last stage of her life as comforting as possible.

The memorial service for our beloved wife, mother and grandma will be Wednesday January 13, at 10:00 CST at Dossman Funeral Home, Belton, TX. and can be viewed by clicking the link at the bottom of her obituary.
