Daniel M. Canava, 79, of Salado, TX, passed away on January 16, 2024, in his residence.

Visitation for Mr. Canava will be on Tuesday, January 23, 6:00pm- 8:00pm. Services will be on Wednesday, the 24th, at 2:00pm. Both will take place at Dossman Funeral Home.

Mr. Canava was born on January 29, 1944, to Roman Canava and Cleta Morin Canava, in Salado, TX.

He spent his career working for the Bell County Road Department for 32 years until he retired. Once retiring, he worked for the county for another 10 years, and retired from there. He married Johnnie Udy on January 29, 1962.  They had 3 children together. He enjoyed drag racing and building engines for his vehicles. He also liked to go fishing whenever he had the chance.

He is preceded in death by his wife Johnnie Canava; one daughter, Barbara Rodriguez; and one brother, Benjamin Canava.

He is survived by one son, Daniel Canava, Jr.; one daughter, Mary Long; two brothers, Joe Canava and Roman Canava, Jr.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
