Funeral services for Cleta Mae Baker, 91, of Belton, will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church in Belton with Rev. Jeff Miller officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday evening at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.
Mrs. Baker died Thursday, June 8, 2023 in a Temple Memory Care Center.
Mrs. Baker was born September 20, 1931 in San Angelo the daughter of Thomas Wayne Jordan and Erma Rose (Dunn) Jordan. She attended school in San Angelo, graduated from San Angelo Jr. College in 1952 and went to work for The First National Bank, later worked for Cox Rushing Greer and Horton, Yaggy and Kenley.
She married Kenneth D. Baker April 5, 1969 in San Angelo. They moved to Turkey for two years while he served in the Air Force. They returned to San Angelo where Mr. Baker served the rest of his career in the Air Force. After his retirement they moved to Waco for a few years. The Bakers have lived in Belton since February 1978. Mrs. Baker worked for 11 years for Dr. Weaver and retired in 1998.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Belton where she served on several committees, taught Children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also volunteered her time to work at Helping Hands Ministry for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Lovis Wayne Jordan and one sister, Lillian Elsie Jordan Badgett.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Kenneth D. Baker, one daughter Tammy Baker of Temple and one son, Carter Baker and his wife Rebecca of Hewitt; six grandchildren Kori Kuban, Klayton Kuban and wife Elizabeth, Maggie Fieseler and husband Cory, Kyle Kuban and wife Shayla, Cristina Gossett; six great-grandchildren. Drake, Rayne, Eliana, Kai, Avery and Joseph.
Memorials may be made to The First United Methodist Church of Belton.
