Carolyn Schiller Mercer

Carolyn Schiller Mercer, 80, of Temple passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at a Bastrop Nursing Home.

Carolyn was born on August 20, 1941 in Temple to Walter and Albina (Gerick) Schiller. She graduated from Temple High School and later received her bachelor's degree from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas. Mrs. Mercer worked for many years for Southwestern Bell and later for AT&T before her retirement in 2000. After retirement, Carolyn worked for Temple ISD for an additional 10 years assisting with the special needs students, retiring again in 2010. She was a longtime member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Temple.

Mrs. Mercer was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Betty Schiller Routt; and a great-nephew Kyle Thomas. She is survived by her nephew Dennis Thomas and his wife Clara of Austin, and a great-nephew, Justin Thomas.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bastrop Nursing Center for their loving care of Carolyn, the staff at Baylor-Scott and White in Oak Hill, and to Clara Thomas for her love and care over the last few years.
