A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00am, Tuesday, December 2 7 th , with Pastor Rick Lasly officiating.

Billy Francis Thomison was born on April 4, 1931, in Austin, Texas to Lureen and Herman Thomison. The oldest of five boys, he took on the role and responsibilities of big brother very early in his life often being the caretaker when his parents were away.

Bill as he was known to many also answered to Buff (short for Buffalo Bill), but most proudly Dad, Daddy, and Pa. He lived most of his life in the Central Texas area. He met his first love Earline DeBolt when he was only sixteen. Billy first saw her outside her home in Belton where she was washing windows. While watching her, Billy told his cousin “Frog” that she was the girl he was going to marry. Once they started spending time together, he would hitch hike from Austin to Belton to see her. They wed in April of 1948 when he was seventeen and she was sixteen. A year later, they welcomed their first daughter Sharon Kay. Almost two years later, Larry Glenn arrived. Rickie Dale was born in 1956 and Melissa Dawn surprised them with her appearance in 1968.

Billy was a craftsman by trade. He began working as an auto-body repairman when he was only fifteen. He would later own several businesses including an automotive glass shop and a body shop specializing in repairs to exotic foreign cars. In later years, long after most people would have retired from this trade, he began restoring vintage vehicles. His master craftsmanship was well-known and sought after in the Central Texas area.

Billy pastored many churches across the state from the Gulf Coast to Central Texas as an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God Church and the Full Gospel Church of God. He was a founding member of the Evangel Temple Assembly of God in Round Rock. His ministry touched thousands throughout the years while pastoring, dedicating, marrying and preaching the funerals of his congregants. He loved God and even in his last days, he would raise his arms in praise and talk about hearing the angels singing to him.

Billy loved animals especially horses and dogs. He was an accomplished horseman riding both for pleasure and utility while working on their small farm in Round Rock. He loved his dogs and was seldom without one. He told the story of a dream he had that when he got to Heaven, his dogs and horses were waiting for him there. More than his love for his animals was his love for his family.

Earline died suddenly in 2006 leaving him after more than 50 years of marriage. Billy began dating the other love of his life Barbara Gregory in 2007. They married in May of 2008. The blended family gave him two more sons, another daughter, multiple grand and great-grandchildren. His last month was spent with family who provided round the clock care for him both in the hospital and finally at Sharon’s home. He was surrounded by those who loved him and spent time providing care, singing to him, playing gospel music, telling stories, and expressing their unending love to him.

Billy was preceded in death by both of his parents, first wife Earline, his brothers Leland, Ronald and Donald Thomison.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Thomison; daughter Sharon and her husband, John Kelley, Larry and his wife, Karen Thomison, Rickie and his wife, Susan Thomison and Melissa and her husband, Brian Grubbs; Earline’s sister, Katy Finch; his bonus children Jerry Don and Donna Gregory, Paula and Jimmy Golden, Ricky and Linda Gregory; eleven grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
