Betty Jean Wilkins

May 31, 1938 — July 2, 2020

Betty Jean Wilkins, 82, of Belton, Texas, entered her eternal life July 2, 2020.  She passed away at Park Place Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation where she resided with her husband, Ray Wilkins.

Betty was born May 31, 1938 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Willie J. Olive and Bertha Morris Olive.  Her early years were spent in Slaton, Texas where she sang in a band, and where she married the love of her life, Ray Anderson Wilkins, in a double wedding with Ray’s twin brother, Raymond and his fiancé, Betty Ruth, on May 29, 1955.

Her love of music was expressed through her singing.  She was active for many years in the Sweet Adelines’ Chisholm Trail Chorus and then the Alamo Metro Chorus.

She was also an active member of First Baptist Church in Belton.  She enjoyed spending time with the Golden Agers and creating meals for Casseroles for Christ.

She also loved baking cookies and sharing them with family and friends.  But, she most loved spending time and playing dominoes with her family.

Betty was reunited in heaven with her parents, brother Billy Olive, daughter Carla Sanford, son Brent Wilkins, and grandson Brently Wilkins.

She is survived by her husband, Ray, of 65 years, daughter Angela Stephens and her husband Jim Stephens of Moffat, Texas, daughter Dana Allen of Mesa, Arizona, and Debbie Elliott of Austin, Texas.  Betty also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and her siblings, Joy Baird and Junior Olive.

A visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon from 1-5 pm at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.  A graveside service at Moffat Cemetery will be Thursday morning at 10:00 am.
