Mrs. Athleen Cleone Deer, 97, died Thursday, March 26, 2020 in a Belton Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Kansas.
Mrs. Deer was born August 29, 1922 in Kincaid, Kansas, the daughter of Reese and May Holman Henderson. She married Joseph Everett Deer, October 9, 1940 in Iola, Kansas. She and Everett owned and operated "Deer Drug Store" in Bronson, Kansas for many years before retiring as a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star and was a long time resident of Bronson,Kansas and El Dorado, Kansas.
Mrs. Deer was preceded in death by her husband in 1981, their son Ronald in 1943 and one grandson, Rodney in 2004, her brothers Wayne and Orville Henderson and sister, Daphane Webster.
Survivors include one son William "Bill" Deer and wife Marsha of Arizona and one daughter Cleo "Mazie" McNamar and husband Bill of Belton, Texas; one brother Carol Dean Henderson of Washington and sister Jeannie Williams of Wichita, Kansas; six grandchildren, Ron Deer, Alisa Kelly, Joe Deer, Matt Deer, Robert Deer and Toni Ragsdale; 16 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
Due to her love of dogs, memorials in her name may be made to your local Animal Shelter or ASPCA.
