Ann Marie Barnett

August 7, 1932 — August 9, 2023

Our mother, Ann Marie Vandenhemel Barnett, peacefully passed away on 8/9/2023, two days after her 91st birthday. Her final days were spent visiting with friends and family celebrating her birthday.

Ann was known for her vivacious, outgoing, bubbly personality. She was the life of the party and always wanted to see it to the end. The original FOMO (fear of missing out).  She never met a stranger and loved to socialize, shop and pet every dog she encountered. Ann's daily talks with her children will be dearly missed. Ann had her hands full raising four children, and minding her husband's business. Later in life Ann volunteered and worked in retail. Ann was a devoted wife for just shy of 50 years, until the passing of Herb. We know Herb and Ann are having a joyous reunion. Ann was a devout Catholic and is now in our Saviors care.  Ann’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. Ann was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Barnett, sons Ray and Samuel, brother Jay, and sister Peggy. Ann leaves behind daughter Josephine also sons Thomas and wife, Janet and Edward and wife Lillian. Ann, called Gangy, Gemaw or Grandma also leaves behind six grandchildren and several great grandchildren as well as nephews and nieces. A full life, well lived such a tiny lady leaves behind a huge void. Until we meet again, “we love you much”.

A  Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 4 to 8PM at Fowler Point Event Center, 17940 NC 210 Hwy., A ngier, North Carolina 27501.

In lieu of flowers please consider a small donation or gift of time to a local animal shelter.
