Alfred Charles Smith passed away at the William R. Courtney State Veterans Home on December 30th, 2023.
His visitation will be Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024, from 5-7PM at Dossman Funeral Home
Graveside services will be at 2pm on Thursday, January 4th, 2024, at Salado Cemetery with military honors.
Alfred was born on June 6th, 1927, in Salado Texas to Alfred and Mabel Smith.
He served honorably in WWII with the Army Air Corps. He retired from the Texas prison system as a prison guard in 1987.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Salado, the VFW, the American Legion, Mason Lodge of Salado, the Scottish Rite, and a Shriner.
He is survived by his son Charles Lee Smith, daughter Karen Jo Elms, brother Ira "Nick" Smith, Grandchildren Michale Charles Olson, and Charles Michael Smith, and great grandchildren, Arabella Olson, and Ashton Charles Smith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wives Mary Ann Smith, then Sibyl Smith, and sisters, Pam Burke, and Nancy Parnell
