Alberto Ortiz, Sr.

Alberto Ortiz, Sr., 97, of Belton passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at a Belton care facility.

A funeral service for Mr. Ortiz will be held on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 10:00 AM at New Jerusalem Church in Belton with Pastor Alberto Ortiz, Jr. and Pastor John Ortiz officiating. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery.

Alberto was born on June 12, 1922 in Beeville, Texas to Juan and Maria (Elutera) Ortiz. He was raised in Beeville and later moved to Belton in 1966. Mr. Ortiz worked as a farmer and was a member of New Jerusalem Church in Belton. He married Candelira Gonzalez in 1941 and she preceded him in death in 1985.

Mr. Ortiz in survived by five sons; Bertoldo Ortiz of Belton; John Ortiz of Jarrell; Alberto Ortiz, Jr. of Belton; Wally Ortiz of Belton; and Jerry Sanchez of McGregor. Also surviving are seven daughters; Maria Paiz of Virginia; Adelada Castillo of Indiana; Cristela Meed of Arizona; Janie Hernandez of Belton; Angie Leal of Belton; Sandra Gauna of Belton; and Susie Rangel of Moody; brothers Juan and Pedro Ortiz; 40 grandchildren; 67 great grandchildren; and 21 great great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.
