Bernice Elizabeth Mckenney

Bernice was born February 26, 1919 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Percy Reginald and Anna (Treder) Williams. She grew up in Wisconsin and attended Ripon University where she received her Bachelors Degree. She was working as a Red Cross volunteer at the old McCloskey Hospital in Temple when she met and later married John Ferguson McKenney Jr. They were married in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 20, 1946. She taught English and Drama at Temple High School from 1946 till 1948 and helped direct the senior play. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Temple before joining Christ Episcopal Church in 1997. She was active in both church choirs and also the Daughters of the King a women's organization at Christ Episcopal. She was a charter member of the Scott and White Yellowbirds and helped start the gift shop.
