Richard R. Hudson

Father Hudson was born April 21, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of Reginald Wilmore Hudson and Lillian Mae (Snider) Hudson. In Oklahoma City, he was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral Parish and a 1949 graduate of John Carroll High School. He was a veteran of the Navy Reserves and the U. S. Air Force. Father Hudson received both his undergraduate and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University). Father Hudson married Vera Lee Sampson, August 21, 1953 in Oklahoma City. He went to work for IBM and worked for 37 years in management, marketing and research, retiring in 1992. In 1984 he became a Deacon while at St. Louis Catholic Church in Austin. In 1996 he was ordained in the Catholic Church and served as a Priest for St. Catherine of Sienna in Austin. For the last 10 years Father Hudson served as Pastor for Christ the King Catholic Church in Belton. He was active in the Gatesville Prison Ministry and Priest to three nursing homes, Crestview Manor and Park Place Manor, in Belton and Garden Estates in Temple. He was preceded in death by his wife Vera on June 26, 1994. Survivors include son Michael Hudson and wife Doris of Dodge Center, Minnesota and daughter Christine Randall and husband Michael of Kingwood, Texas; brother Terrance Hudson and wife Helen of The Woodlands, Texas and sister Mary Boecker and husband Henry of Georgetown; two grandsons Michael Hudson, Jr. and wife Susan of Hayfield, Minnesota and Timothy Hudson of Rochester, Minnesota. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Christ the King Catholic Church or Sacared Heart School of Theology in Hales Corner, Wisconsin.
