Geraldine Evans

Funeral services for Geraldine Evans, 89, of Salado will be held, 2:00 PM, Wednesday September 1, 2010 at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Reverend Joe Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in Salado Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation today from 6-8 PM at the Dossman Funeral Home. Mother passed away August 29, 2010 in a Temple nursing facility. She was born November 18, 1920 in Oglesby to Guy King and Jenny Lou Ethridge. She married Emil David (San) Evans, Sr. on January 11, 1938 in Oglesby. Mother worked at Stagecoach Inn in Salado for 42 years, where she made many lifelong friends retiring in 1994. She was an avid bingo player and continued to make friends through bingo. She was a charter member of the Belton VFW Women's Auxiliary. Mother was a wonderful cook and enjoyed crocheting. She is preceded in death by her husband Emil David Evans, Sr. in 1992 and one son Emil David Evans, Jr. in 2009. Survivors are daughter Sandy Scully of Temple, son Sam Evans and wife Julie of Belton, a daughter in law, Dean Evans of Salado. Brothers, Billy Ethridge of Oglesby and James Ethridge of Marlin. Grandchildren, Jennifer Mays of Atlanta, Georgia, Jeffrey Evans of Salado, Emil Daniel (Trey) Bethke, III of College Station, Jordan Evans of College Station and Riley Evans of Belton and five great grandchildren, Amanda Mays, Kady Mays, Rebecca Mays, Reagan Bethke and Kyle Bethke. Mother had made many friends during her three year stay at the Weston Inn. She tried to be a mother and grandmother to her favorites. Mother always had something funny to tell us. She loved playing jokes on us and her friends. She loved us all dearly and all that knew her are going to miss her. She will be forever in our hearts.
