Services for Raphael "Ray" A. Phillips, age 92, of Belton will be Tuesday at 10:00 AM at Dossman Funeral Home with Minister Michael Light officiating. Burial will follow in the North Belton Cemetery. Mr. Phillips died Saturday in a Round Rock hospice facility. He was born September 21, 1917, in Jacksboro, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Melba Pearl Phillips, his father and mother, Silas Andrew and Sue (Jackson) Phillips, step-father, Virgil Cross, a sister Opal Neves and a brother J. C. Phillips. He married Mary Ruth Williams April 4, 1965 in Coleman. He and Ruth were ranchers in Bangs, before moving to Temple for retirement. Ray was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force in Japan. Ray was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for 64 years and was a member of the Heidenheimer Church of Christ at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Phillips of Belton; 3 sons, Ralph Phillips and wife Linda of Amarillo, Jackie Phillips and his wife Mary of Bakersfield, California and Horace Phillips and wife Betty of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
