Lonnie Edward Brooks After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Lonnie Edward Brooks went to be with his Savior, Thursday morning, October 7th, at his home in Salado, with his wife and children by his side. Ed was born August 28, 1943, in Salado, the son of Lonnie P. and Opal (Jackson) Brooks. He married Clarinda (Sissy) Kelley of Florence March 8, 1965 in Florence. He lived in the Salado area all of his 67 years. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Salado. He loved the Lord, his family, and had many interests. He loved animals, auctioneering, law enforcement, golf, football, motorcycles, and fast cars. To sum it up "Big Ed" loved life and lived it to the fullest. He truly never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his father Lonnie Brooks. He is survived by his wife Clarinda (Sissy) Brooks of Salado, his daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Kevin Fojtasek of Spring, his son Paul Brooks of Temple, two grandchildren, Dylan and Jared Fojtasek of Spring, his mother Opal Brooks of Belton and one brother Bennie Brooks of Round Rock. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. Funeral services will be at 2 PM Saturday, October 9, 2010, at the Dossman Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Borho and Bro. Billy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Salado Cemetery.
