On Tuesday, October 12, 2010, angels came and carried the soul of our beloved Sherrie Glunt Harper home to be with God our Father. She was born on April 24, 1949 in Henderson, Kentucky to Glenda and Milton Glunt who preceded her in death. She graduated from Henderson County High School, and later attended the University of Kentucky, Indiana State University, and received her Master's Degree from Western Kentucky University. She and Barry were married on May 7,1983, a beautiful spring day amid the bluebonnets and live oaks in Salado, TX. They were blessed with one daughter - Elizabeth Barrett (Libby). Sherrie loved to travel and they lived for several years in Europe, and more recently spent time in the mountains of Colorado Springs, Colorado. She loved to surround herself with all things beautiful- gold and white china, teapots, antiques, and dear friends. She loved old movies and was the consummate hostess. Because she loved children so much, Sherrie spent her life teaching elementary and middle school in Henderson, Kentucky, Heidelberg, Germany, Dallas ISD,TX, Temple ISD,TX and Belton ISD, TX. Since 1986, she was a member of the Canyon Creek Church of Christ, Temple, TX - always active in teaching preschool, the nursery program, children's worship and Wednesday night dinners. Sherrie was one of the most selfless persons we have ever known. She was devoted to Barry and her beloved Libby. She was passionate about Libby's involvement in dance, cheerleading and track & field. She is survived by her husband, Barry, and daughter, Libby, both of Salado. She is also survived by one sister, Tonia Royster, of Simpsonville, Kentucky and two brothers, Ben Glunt of Grier, South Carolina and Ross Glunt of Kissimmee, Florida. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Belton on Friday, October 15, at 3 p.m. Visitation will be at Dossman Funeral Home, 2525 North Main, Belton, Texas 76'513 on Thursday, October 14, from 5-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Scott and White Children's Hospital, 2401 South 31st, Temple, Texas 76508.
