Funeral services for Hershel Wayne Woodrum, age 71, of Belton will be Thursday at 2:00 PM at Dossman Funeral Home with Minister Joe Baisden officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Mr. Woodrum died Sunday at his home in Belton. He was born October 27, 1939 in Dallas, Texas to Richard Daniel and Lola (Drake) Woodrum. He attended Salado and Belton schools. He married Carmen Joyce Talley on November 11, 1960 in Belton. He worked his whole life, beginning at age 12 he worked at a local dairy before and after school. As a young man he worked for Douglas Aircraft in California, Griggs Equipment, Potts Vending Company, Frank Sefcik Auto Parts. In 1971 he went to work for Wilson Art until a heart attack caused him to retire in 1994. He then began a new career transporting vehicles for Don Ringler Chevrolet. He always wanted to see what was down the road or around the next bend. He was a member of the Belton Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years, 22 of which he served as secretary. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Woodrum of Belton, son, Edwin Wayne (Ed) Woodrum of Belton, daughter, Robyn Kimberly Woodrum Bracewell of Spring, brother, Marvin James Woodrum of Stephenville, sister Virginia May Rankin Draemer of Manvel, 4 grandchildren, Traci Renee Woodrum, Bryan David Woodrum, Garrett Landon Hosch and Ryan Kannon K. Hosch. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the American Cancer Society or Vista Care Hospice. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Dossman Funeral Home.
