Madie Lea Wilkerson Scarcella

Funeral services for Madie Lea (Whitley) Wilkerson Scarcella, age 81, of Temple will be Monday at 1:00 PM at Taylor's Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Loudin officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple. Mrs. Scarcella died Saturday in a Temple hospital. She was born February 8, 1930 in Brady, Texas to David Daniel and Minnie Belle (Huggins) Whitley. She was one of eight children growing up in rural Coryell and Bell county. She was a 1947 graduate of Academy High School where she played basketball and was active in many other activites. She married Allen David Wilkerson on July 29, 1947 in Belton, Texas and he preceded her in death in 2001. She married Joe Scarcella on October 24, 2002 in Belton, Texas. She was a lifelong member of Taylor's Valley Baptist Church where she served in the choir, taught Sunday School and was active in all parts of church life. Survivors include her husband, Joe Scarcella of Temple, 2 sons, Steve Wilkerson of San Antonio and Dan Wilkerson of Corpus Christi, daughter, Allena Shumate of Morgan's Point Resort, step-son, Larry Joe Scarcella of League City, step-daughter, Lana Scarcella of Houston, brother, Charles Weldon Whitley of Temple, sister, June Moran of Gulfport, Mississippi, 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Baker, Allison Wimberly, Kimberly Palgrave, Travis Wilkerson and Tracie Wilkerson, 3 great grandchildren, Ryan Avila, Taylor Avila and Miles Wimberly. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Taylors Valley Baptist
