John E. Ansay

Memorial services for John E. Ansay Sr., age 74, of Morgan's Point Resort will be Thursday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Gary Baxley and Sheriff Dan Smith officiating. Mr. Ansay will be cremated. He died Monday at a Temple nursing home. He was born November 14, 1936 in West Warrick, Rhode Island to Albert and Cecile (Chevalier) Ansay. He joined the U. S. Army at 17 and served 9 years, retiring at Fort Hood. He married Jean Smith on August 18, 1967 in Temple, Texas. He worked for Great Western Investments who developed the Morgan's Point Resort area. Later became the Public Works Director for the City of Morgan's Point Resort for many years and he was followed by his son Mike Ansay that position. He also worked for Shallow Ford Construction and I. J. B. Properties. He was very active in civic activities including Morgan's Point Resort Volunteer Fire Department, Morgan's Point Resort Optimist Club and the Jaycee's. He was proud to have Ansay Park named after him for his many years of service to the community. Survivors include his wife, Jean Ansay of Morgan's Point Resort, 6 sons, John E. Ansay Jr. of Temple, Jimmy Ansay of Temple, Joe Allen Ansay of Troy, Scott Lee Ansay of Zabcikville, Michael Allen Ansay of Morgan's Point Resort and Stephen Matthew Ansay of Pennsylvania, brother, Norbert Ansay of Rhode Island, 13 grandchildren and 3great grandchildren.
