Belton--- Memorial services for Bill Cawthon, 80, of Waco, formerly of Belton, will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 16, 2012, at the Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Dr. Leroy Kemp officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-6 PM Sunday afternoon at the Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. Mr. Cawthon died Friday January 13, 2012 in a Waco Hospital. Mr. Cawthon was born February 21, 1931, in Littlefield, the son of Roy and Lura Mae (Clark) Cawthon. He married Joan Polk, in 1951, in Belton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Belton Lions Club for many years. Mr. Cawthon retired from Texas Power and Light after 34 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church Belton. He was preceded in death by son Charles Polk Cawthon. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Joan (Polk) Cawthon of Waco, one son Matt Cawthon and wife Shelly of Waco, one brother Jon Cawthon and wife Allyson of Brenham, one sister Cleta Bennett of Waco; Five grandchildren, Jake Cawthon and wife Rebecca, John Cawthon and wife Layne, Katie Cawthon, Carol Ann McCaig and Caleb McCaig; one great granddaughter Samantha Cawthon. Memorials may be made to the Bell County Museum 201 North Main Belton, Texas 76513.
