Belton--- Memorial services for Dottie Cardwell Busby, 67, of Temple, will be held at 2 PM Thursday at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel in Belton with Bro. Dan Kirkley officiating. Mrs. Busby died Thursday afternoon, February 20, 2012 at her home in Temple. Dottie was born September 27, 1944 in Hillsboro, the daughter of Archie Lee Powell and Helen Dorothy May. She married John Busby in 1988 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mrs. Busby had many friends from her time employed at Dillard's for 8 years and at A&D Testing for 2 years. Dottie was an avid bowler and was a member of the Women's Bowling Association of Waco where she also had numerous friends. She attended both the New Life and First Baptist Church in Temple. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Cardwell of Temple, Jeff Cardwell of Dallas; three sisters, Jenell Hudgens of Valley Mills, Lottie Weathers and husband, Tim, of Temple, Lela Haynie of Temple; three grandchildren, Brad Cardwell of Medino, Ohio, Taylor and Nathan Cardwell, of Balks, Oklahoma; two nieces, Taryn Dittmer of Temple, Michelle Reeves of Valley Mills; one nephew, Donald Hudgens and wife Lisa of Lorena; two aunts, Leatha Stroud of Waco, Evelyn Moore of Hubbard; one uncle, Bill May of Azle; numerous cousins; and a very special friend, J.D. Cardwell of Waco. The family would also like to mention the caring nurses of Odyssey Hospice, Cindy Thompson and Jennifer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Odyssey Hospice.
