J. I. (Bob / Poke) Weaks, 83, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2012. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 20 at North Belton Cemetery, Belton, TX with Rev. Charles Angerstein officiating. J. I. was born August 5, 1929 on Sparta Mountain, Bell County, TX to John F. Weaks and Ethel Hinds-Weaks. He attended school in Belton. One of J. I.'s earlier jobs was in the construction of Belton Dam. He worked as foreman at an oil refinery in Richmond, CA and finally was employed forover 30 years by Chafin Enterprises in Temple, TX as a truck driver retiring in 2000 to enjoy his passions, hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Myrtle McGuire Weaks, his eldest grandson, Dwayne Herring, one brother and 7 sisters. Mr. Weaks is survived by one son, Jay Weaks of Temple and 3 daughters, Gloria Weaks-Herring of Manor, TX, Cynthia Angerstein of Temple, and Rhonda Weaks of Brookings, S.D, 2 brothers Leon Weaks of Shingletown, CA and William Windham of Texarkanna, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grand daughters. Visitation will be Saturday August 18, 6 - 8 p.m. at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. Pallbearers are Charles Angerstein II, Brian Weaks, Jonathan Frieszell, Cory Barnes, Dustin Herring, and Jerry West with honorary pallbearer Wesley Myers. The family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to the National Alzheimer's Assocation 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
