Belton--- Memorial services for Willis Atwood Carder, 94, of Georgetown, formerly of Belton, will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, November 5, 2012 at First Baptist Church Belton with Rev. Andy Davis officiating. Mr. Carder died Friday, November 2, 2012 at his home in Georgetown. Mr. Carder was born September 28, 1918, in Abernathy, the son of Willie Jefferson and Lalla Mae (Atwood) Carder. He was a Waco High School graduate. He married Bethel Eileen Sorensen, July 11, 1942. He attended Baylor University and The University of Mary Hardin Baylor. He served 26 and a half years with the Department of Defense as a Civil Service Employee for the Air Force and Army, retiring in 1978 as an Air Traffic Controller. He was ordained as a Gospel Minister in 1975, served as minister of education, developed church services for Bell Baptist association. He was pastor of Elm Grove Baptist Church. He also served as a Missions Volunteer with the Home Missions Board, during which he served as a supply and interim pastor in Churches throughout central Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife Bethel Eileen Sorensen Carder, November 3, 2003. Survivors include one daughter Anna Beth McIntyre and husband Ernest Benl of Moody; two granddaughters Stacy Wilson and husband Jerry and Kelly Stewart and husband David; five grandchildren Matthew and Tyler Wilson; Dakota, Kacey, and Madison Stewart. Memorials may be made the First Baptist Church Belton Missions Fund or the University of Mary Hardin Baylor.
