Edna Harkins Spence, 85, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Wesley Woods Healthcare Center with her family by her side. A memorial service will be held at 2PM, Friday, November 30, at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00PM Thursday at the funeral home. Edna was born May 26, 1927 in Belton to William H. and Alta Mae Harkins. She married Clyde J Spence, Jr. on Aug. 1, 1947. She was a life long resident of Belton until her move to Waco to be near her son and family. Edna worked for years at Griggs Equipment Co. and Womble, Couch, and Cowan Insurance. After retirement, Edna and Clyde had a second career at Dossman Funeral Home. They were active members of Miller Heights Baptist Church. Edna and Clyde enjoyed camping and traveling. Edna was deeply devoted to family and had a servants heart for them. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years; a brother and sister. She is survived by her son, Bob Spence and wife, Elaine of Waco, a granddaughter Stacy Brisco and husband Luke; a grandson, Stephen Spence and wife Laurie; four great grandchildren, Bayley, Stratton, Bentley, and Kasen. The family wishes to express our deepest appreciation for the kind and loving care given to our mother and grandmother by the staff of Wesley Woods and members of Providence Hospice over the last few years and weeks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association and Providence Hospice.
