Belton Funeral services for Weldon Avery Drake, 87, of Belton, will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday March 13, 2013, at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Adams officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nolanville. The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Drake died Thursday, March 7, 2013, in a Temple hospital. Mr. Drake was born April 7, 1925 to the late William Henry Walter Lee "Dutch" Drake and Ida Lee (Bishop) Drake in Killeen. He served in the US Army, 82nd Airborne during World War II. After serving his country with honors and returning home he married Edna Pearl Siegeler on June 21, 1947. They raised three children, two daughters and one son. He worked for the Civil Service where he retired after 30 years service. Mr. Drake also raised Fox Hound and Beagle hunting dogs. He loved to hunt and competed with the dogs, winning many Field Trial competitions. He was preceded in death by one brother Lee Drake. Survivors include his wife, Edna Pearl Drake of Belton, two daughters Brenda Weaks and Linda Chaney both of Belton and a son Weldon Allen Drake of Morgan's Point Resort. Three brothers Wilburn D. Drake of Springdale, Arkansas, Arthur C. Drake of Springdale, Arkansas and Joe Drake of Belton; one sister Martha Blair of Belton, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
