Vera L. Nelson

Funeral services for Vera L. Nelson, 83 of Temple, will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Roscoe Harrison and George Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Dossman Funeral Home. Mrs. Nelson went to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 14, 2013 in Temple. She was born August 12, 1929 in Belton to J.L. Lankford and Beatrice (Brooks) Lankford. She married James H. Nelson, September 11, 1954. Vera was a baptized a member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Belton. She had a Master's degree and was a Teacher for Killeen ISD for 38 years where she received the Killeen ISD Terrific Teacher of the Year Award and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband who passed away September 14, 2000; her parents; and a sister, Dorothy L. Gunn. Survivors include three sons, Michael and Eric Nelson and Vernon Page; three nephews, Gary Mitchell, Gregory Mitchell, and William Gunn.
