Shirley Ann Benson

BeltonFuneral services for Shirley Ann Benson, 64, of Temple, will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Pastor Elaine Benson and Rev. B.K. Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Garden of Memories in Temple. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6 to 8PM Friday, March 29, 2013 at the funeral home. Mrs. Benson died Monday, March 25, 2013 in a Temple hospital. She was born April 19, 1948 in Temple the daughter of Joe Benson and Mable (Kellough) Benson. Shirley moved to Houston just after high school where she graduated from college and made a career of teaching nursing classes. She was also a member of the First Fruits Christian Center in Houston. She moved back to Temple in 2012. Mrs. Benson is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald Ray and Charles Benson; and one sister, Doris Williams. Survivors include one son, Travis Benson (Desiree) of Houston; four brothers, Robert (Linda), Rodney (Augustine), and Joe Benson Jr., all of Temple and Albert (Myra) Benson of Mableton, Georgia; four sisters, Jonell Gage (Tommie) of Taylor; Betty Egleston(Willie) of Columbia, South Carolina, Sandra Russell of Temple, Carlyn Butts of Atlanta, Georgia; and three grandkids, Desinique, Trinity, and T.J. Benson.
