Funeral services for James D. Coffman, 76, of Moffat, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 21, 2013, at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Love officiating. Burial will follow at the Moffat Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Coffman was born June 26, 1937 in Red River County, the son of Kathryn Wilson Coffman. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He married Shirley Ackley, June 7, 1961 in South Gate, California. He was a member of the Union Sheet Metal Worker association. He was a member of First Baptist Church Moffat. Mr. Coffman attended The Thursday Club and the Tuesday Solace Clubs for Alzheimer's support. For the last three years he has been under the professional care of Regency Manor Nursing Home in Temple. Mr. Coffman was preceded in death by one brother Barney W. Coffman and one sister Rosemary Busby. Survivors include his wife of more than 52 years, Shirley Coffman of Moffat; two sons David Kial Coffman and James Craig Coffman both of Ft. Worth and daughter Sheryl Jayne Hammonds of Belton; two sisters Vivian Marie Hargrove and Juanita Rebecca Clark both of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Brandon, Scott and Vincent Hammonds, and Alex and Samantha Coffman. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Moffat.
