Belton--- Funeral services for Billy C. Griffin, 84, of Morgan's Point Resort, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Loudin officiating. Burial will be at the Hopkinsville Lodge Masonic Cemetery in Waelder at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the Dossman Funeral Home. Mr. Griffin died Saturday, December 21, 2013 at his ranch in Gonzales County. Mr. Griffin was born May 7, 1929, in Waelder, the son of Clifton and Ruby (Harris) Griffin. He was a graduate of Waelder High School and Southwest Texas Teacher's College. He taught for a short period of time at Bandera High School where he met his wife, Jo Ann Word. They married in September 1954. They pursed careers with the USDA Soil Conservation Service in Bandera, San Antonio, Pecos, Temple, Texas and Jackson, Mississippi. In 1986 they retired to their home in Morgan's Point Resort. Mr. Griffin was a Mason for more than 60 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, in 2003. Survivors include two sons Billy C. Griffin, Jr. of Bandera and Dr. Pat Griffin of Academy; one daughter Vicki Griffin Hart of Lucas; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to any Breast Cancer Awareness organization. He was preceded in death by his wife, in 2003. Survivors include two sons Billy C. Griffin, Jr. of Bandera and Dr. Pat Griffin of Academy; one daughter Vicki Griffin Hart of Lucas; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
