Billie Ruth Harrison

Funeral services for Billie Ruth Harrison, 87, of Temple, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at the Dossman Funeral Home chapel in Belton. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for visitation Monday evening from 5-7 PM at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Harrison died Saturday, December 28, 2013 in a Temple Nursing facility. She was born May 24, 1926, in Temple, the daughter of G. W. and Emma Ruth (Gibson) Huggins. She was a 1943 graduate of Temple High School, 1945 graduate of Temple Junior College and a 1947 graduate of Baylor University. She married Bill R. Harrison, November 20, 1949 in Temple. She worked for over 30 years at the Olin E. Teague Veterans Center in the administrative offices. Mrs. Harrison was a member of many civic clubs including the Newcomers Club, Blue Bonnet Club, and the City Federation of Women's Clubs of Temple. She was a charter member of the Avolonte Study Club started in 1956 where she held many offices especially reporter. In 1984 she joined the V. A. women's Club and is now an honorary member. She was a long time member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a member of the Oak Park United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, October 29, 1997. Survivors include her cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Fuzzy Friends Rescue 6321 Airport Road Waco Texas 76708
