Belton--- Funeral services for Walter Lee Smith, 80 of Belton, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2014, at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the North Belton Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Friday evening from 6-8 PM at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Smith died Sunday December 29, 2013 in Temple hospital. Mr. Smith was born in Bells, Texas the son of John Shibley Smith and Viva Pearl Chapman. He was raised in Denison. He served for 2 years in the US Army from 1951 to 1953, a veteran of the Korean War. He married Wanda Peiskee December 6, 1953 in Belton. For 25 years he was the Orkin Man, with Orkin Exterminating Company in Killeen. Later he owned and operated the Belton Bizzy Bee Mobil Station in Belton till 1991. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Miller Heights Baptist Church in Belton. He was a member of the Belton Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife of 60 years Wanda Smith of Belton, one son Gary Lee Smith of Belton; two daughters Gwendolyn Smith Hester of Belton and Pamela Smith Michaud of Temple; two sisters Opal Patti and Winnie Smith both of Denison; six grandchildren, Christopher George Smith, Dustin Lee Lohman, Amberlynn Denise Michaud, Amanda Michelle Hester, Erica Renee Michaud and Nicole Clayton Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
