Thelma Clyburn Grammond

Temple --- Thelma Clyburn Grammond, age 98 of Temple, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 in McGregor. Funeral services will be held at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Dossman Funeral Home. Thelma was born November 21, 1915 in Amarillo, Texas, the daughter of Dr. Lonnie Cecil Clyburn and Mettie Lavanda Bartlett. She attened school in Clarksville, Texas. After graduation from Clarksville High School in 1934, she attended North Texas State Teachers College in Denton, graduating in 1937 with a degree in Home Economics. In 1940 she married Robert Dean Boatner in Clarsksville. Two children were born to Robert and Thelma, Michael Dean Boatner and Dortha Monyene Boatner. Thelma remarried in 1950 in Texarkana, Arkansas. She became Mrs. Frank Grammond and spent the next 30 years traveling in the United States Air Force teaching in Fort Worth, Texas; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Lexington, Kentucky; and Bossier City, Louisiana. When she retired the family moved to Temple, Texas, were she lived until moving to Westview Manor in McGregor, Texas in 2012. She was active in the First Christian Church in Belton, Alpha Delta Kappa, Legion of Honor, and spent most of her time sewing for her enjoyment. She is preceded in death by her parents and loving husband; son, Michael Dean Boatner; brothers, Frank Clyburn, Ben Burrow, Gavin Burrow, Gerald Beacher Clyburn; sisters, Bertha Swank, Willie Ross Lee, Mary Pepper. Survivors include her daughter, Monyene Carnes; grandchildren, Clint Stearns of Bellmead, Texas, Sabrina Pugh of McGregor, Texas; great grandchildren, Tatia Roberts of Burleson, Jessica Stearns of Azle, Texas and Kyla Pugh of McGregor; and a great great granddaughter, Kaegan Roberts of Burleson. Also surviving is one sister, Ann McDowell of Sache and one brother, Bobby Ray Burrow of Garland.
