Sandra Kaye Mayon

August 15, 1950 — February 19, 2014

Sandra Kaye Mayon was born August 15, 1950, to Eva Louise (Breaker) Mayon and Albertis B. Mayon, in Pasadena, Texas. She graduated from Channelview High School, Channelview, Texas, in 1968. She received a BSEd from University of Houston in 1972. She was a member of the University of Houston volleyball team and pitched for Houston Comets fast pitch softball team in the 1970's. After over 30 years of teaching in various school districts, she retired from Robert E. Lee High School in Goose Creek ISD in Baytown, Texas. Sandy loved showing and breeding Basset Hounds. She co-owned a small business with partner, Mary M. Kessel. Sandy was very talented in various crafts including quilting, sewing, and embroidering. She enjoyed vending at dog shows where she sold her many handmade creations. Her parents preceded her in death. Survivors include, lifetime partner, Mary M. Kessel, her brothers, Donald of Austin, Daniel and Ronald both of Channelview and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Helping Hands Basset Rescue, P.O. Box 1266, Round Rock, Texas 78680, or Austin's Metropolitan Community Church at Freedom Oaks, Building Fund, 8601 S. 1st Street, Austin, Texas, 78748. A celebration of Sandy's life will be determined at a later date.
