Funeral services for Morris Nolan Padgett, Jr., 74, of Temple, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 21, 2014, at the Historic First United Methodist Church in Salado at 650 Royal Street, Salado, Texas 76571 with Rev. Heath Peloquin officiating. The family will re ceive friends for visitation Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. Mr. Padgett died Sunday evening, March 16, 2014 surrounded by family.. Mr. Padgett was born September 6, 1939 in Grand Saline, Texas, the son of Morris Nolan Padgett, Sr. and Lounette (Shivers) Padgett. He attended SMU and was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. He was an entrepreneur and businessman, working for many years in the oil, gas, and waste management industries as well as a rancher. He had varied interests but was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Padgett was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly English and grandson Collin English. He is survived by his wife Valerie (Oxley); sons Morris Padgett and wife Gay of Belton and Steven Padgett and wife Megan of Las Vegas, Nevada; son-in-law Jon English of Hamilton; grandchildren Paige(Josh), Alexandra, Caitlin, Ashley, Tyler, Clair, Ashlee, Sydney and Erin, and great granddaughter Kelby and friends too numerous to mention.
