Dennis W. Stevenson

Dennis was born in Topeka, KS on May 29, 1954, but in his words "I got to Texas as soon as I could." Dennis married Doris "the love of his life" on December 27, 1975, while serving in the United States Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, they moved to Little River-Academy where they raised their three sons: Doug, Josh, and Jake. Dennis attended Taylor's Valley Baptist church, and worked 24 years at Dyncorp based in Killeen, TX. Dennis was well known for his unconditional desire to help friends and family and his larger than life sense of humor. He and Doris enjoyed over 40 years of love and laughs that infected all around them with joy. Dennis' laugh easily filled a room, bringing smiles, comfort and a feeling of acceptance and friendship to all. Dennis is preceded in death by his father Richard Stevenson, mother Jessie Stevenson Melton, mother-in-law Barbara Long, nephew Scott Edwards, and brother-in-law James Edwards. Dennis is survived by his wife Doris, sons Doug and his wife Kristen Stevenson, Josh Stevenson, Jake and his wife Alare Stevenson. Dennis has three surviving grandchildren Colton Web Stevenson, Salma Stevenson, and Lylianah Stevenson. Also surviving is his brother Bruce and wife Connie Stevenson, sister Donna Edwards, and his father-in-law, Roy Long. Finally, Dennis was loved and survived by many brothers and sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. There will be a viewing from 6-8pm Sunday April 20, 2014. Funeral services will be at 1pm Monday April 21, 2014. Both will be held at Dossman Funeral home in Belton, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family request any donations be made to Fellowship Baptist Church, Morgan's Point, TX.
