Barbara J. Emerson

Graveside services for Barbara J. Emerson, 82, of Holland, will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Greathouse Cemetery in Temple with Rev. Andy Davis officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation 6-9 PM, Sunday evening at the Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. Mrs. Emerson died Thursday, May 8, 2014 in a Temple hospital. Mrs. Emerson was born, November 1, 1931 in Dallas, the daughter of Raymond and Jewel (Wimpee) McCoy. She grew up in Kaufman and was a graduate of Kaufman High school. She married George Emerson. Barbara and George founded Emerson Construction. She served as President of the company for several years. They lived in Grand Prairie for many years before moving to Temple in 1979. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Belton. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed having horses and her dog. She was preceded in death by her husband George Emerson in January 1987. Survivors include three sons Ron Emerson and wife Debbie of Belton, Gary Emerson of Holland and Chuck Emerson and wife Carol of Belton; one sister Sybil Covington of Kaufman; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 4 great- great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Belton or the charity of your choice.
