Funeral services for B. G. Welch, 80, of Willow Grove, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, at First Baptist Church Moody with Rev. Tom Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at the Moody Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday evening from 5:00 -7:00 PM at the Dossman Funeral Home in Belton. Mr. Welch died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at a Belton Nursing Home. Mr. Welch was born in Willow Grove, the son of Otis Odell Welch and Juanita Berta Welch. He married Lanelle Goode July 19, 1952 at the Willow Grove Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Air Force for four years. Mr. Welch was a farmer and rancher. He also worked as a Farm Bureau insurance agent and an independent agent. Later he and his wife owned and operated a trucking company, Country Couples Express. Mr. Welch was involved in community service, serving on the Troy ISD School Board and for more than 45 years serving on the Soil and Water Conservation Board. He was a Mason for more than 50 years. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church Moody, serving as a deacon. Survivors include his wife Lanelle Welch of Willow Grove; two sons Otis Odell Welch and wife Ellen of Willow Grove and James Eric Welch of Anchorage, Alaska two daughters, Cynthia Jean Henager and husband Kenneth of Willow Grove and Dana Lee Pitts and husband Terry of Morgans Point Resort; seven grandchildren Sarah, Michael, Jason, Katy, Kevin, Mitchell and Miranda and 12 great grandchildren.
