David Wayne Whitmire

Services for David Whitmire, age 68, of Belton will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Gary DeSalvo of Temple Bible Church officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Cemetery in Belton Mr. Whitmire passed way Sunday, June 8, 2014, in a Temple hospital. David was born on July 12, 1945 in Belton, Texas to the late Lathayer "Whit" Whitmire and Doris Whitmire. He was a lifelong resident. He married Yvonne Knowles on June 24, 1971 in Belton, Texas. After serving in the Army, David worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator until he and his wife began working in the Right of Way industry. They later began their own consulting business in that field. David was a classic car enthusiast and participated in various car shows in the area. He loved to work with tractors and loved to be either working on his cars or working the land. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Whitmire of Belton, one daughter, Karla Neidhart and husband Keith of Belton and one grandchild, Jack Neidhart of Belton, one brother, Steve Whitmire and wife Peggy of Belton and one sister, Debbie Macey and husband Harry of Temple. In lieu of flowers and as a lifelong animal rescue supporter, David requested memorials to Centex Humane Society of Killeen located at 5501 S. Clear Creek Road in Killeen, Texas.
