Graveside services for Melvin Lee (Dick) Jackson, 92, of Belton, will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the Holland Cemetery in Holland with Brother Roy Parker officiating. Mr. Jackson died Sunday, July 20, 2014, at his home in Belton. Mr. Jackson was born November 9, 1921, the son of Charlie Lee and Myrtle Jackson in Milam County and later moved to Holland. On December 12, 1945 he married LaNella Dean Buckley in New Braunsfel. He was a truck driver, mechanic and contractor. After retiring, he moved to Elm Grove Road area where he raise cattle, goats and baled hay. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother and three sisters. Survivors include two daughters Pam Taylor of Bryan and Patty Golden of Belton; three grandsons, Skip Taylor of Bryan, David Golden of Temple and Brian Golden of Pearland, one granddaughter, Tashia Dickerson of Bryan and seven great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Smith Lemil-Optiz Foundation c/o Gretchen Noah, P. O. Box 10598 Fargo, North Dakota, 58106. Miller Heights Baptist Church Building Fund or the Scott and White Hospice. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday evening at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel in Belton.
