Emmy Elizabeth Lawton

Mrs. Emmy Elizabeth Lawton, 89, of Temple and formerly of Bartlett, died Thursday, July 24 in a Temple nursing center. Graveside services for Mrs. Lawton will be held at 11:00 A. M. Monday, July 28, 2014 in the Bartlett City Cemetery with Rev. Billy Ray Crow officiating. Mrs. Lawton was born to Leonard Clyde and Annie Belle White Ingram in Belton, Texas on September 25, 1924. She graduated from Troy High School in 1942. She married Eugene Thomas Lawton in Frankfort, Kentucky on September 25, 1945. Mrs. Lawton had lived in Bell County most of her life, and was a resident of Bartlett for 47 years, prior to moving to Temple in 2007. She was employed as a waitress, and also worked at Gibson's Discount Center in Temple prior to her retirement. Mrs. Lawton was a member of First Baptist Church of Bartlett. Survivors include three sons, Tommy Lawton of Groves, Allen Lawton of Temple and Randy Lawton of Kempner; one sister, Theresa Sutton of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 24, 1994, one son, Bobby Lawton on December 28, 2006 and two brothers Lenis Crockett Ingram and Jimmie Dean Ingram. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the charity of the donor's choice. The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday evening from 5:00-7:00 P. M. at the Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.
