Julio Velez Ruiz, Sr.

Funeral services for Julio Christopher Velez Ruiz, Sr., age 56, of Belton will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Dossman Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Callaway officiating. Burial will follow in Moffat Cemetery. Mr. Ruiz died Monday at his home in Belton. He was born July 6, 1958 in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico to Jose and Gloria Velez. He served in the U. S. Army. He married Karen Keeton on August 21, 1993 in Temple. Prior to his retirement due to ill health he was employed in Logistics at Fort Hood. He had been a resident of Bell County for 34 years. Survivors include his wife Karen Keeton of Belton, 1 son, Julio Cesar Velez, Jr. of New York, 1 daughter, Brandy Gutierrez of Troy, 1 brother, Jorge Velez of Killeen, 1 sister Yolanda Ramos of Killeen, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dossman Funeral Home. Allen Lawton FD
