June Steinbauer

June Louise Steinbauer was born on June 13, 1923 in Buchanan, Michigan to the late Lyle and Bertha Young. She passed away on December 12, 2014 in Belton, TX. She was married to Dr. Robert (Bob) A. Steinbauer, Professor Emeritus of Music, Kansas State University and currently Adjunct Professor of Music at University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton. They met as children in Niles, MI and were married on September 6, 1947. She was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother and a friend to everyone she met. June served as Executive Secretary to the President of Tyler Fixture Corporation in Niles, MI and then Secretary to the Vice President for Raw Iron and Steel Purchases at Kaiser-Frazer Corporation in Ypsilanti, MI. Afterwards, she was secretary to the President of Drury University in Springfield, MO. After raising her family, she became a successful realtor in Manhattan, KS for over 12 years, and she hosted her own daily radio show relating to her real estate activities. She and her husband retired to Fort Myers, FL for 10 years before moving to Texas, where they made their home in Belton since 1999. They began their journey together in the First Presbyterian Church in Niles, MI and maintained Presbyterian allegiance throughout their lives, most recently at the First Presbyterian Church in Belton. June was a lifelong advocate of civil rights and community responsibility and as such was actively involved in many community activities throughout her lifetime. June is survived by her husband Bob Steinbauer of Belton, TX, her daughter Martha Steinbauer of Dallas, TX, her son Jeffrey Steinbauer, MD and wife Lisa L. Wang, MD of Houston, TX, and three grandchildren: Benjamin Steinbauer and Emily Steinbauer both of Austin, TX, and Henry W. Steinbauer of Houston, TX. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. E. Don Parker for his exceptional compassion and care, and the many friends who have been a special part of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to First Presbyterian Church Belton, the Alzheimer's Association, Baylor Scott & White Hospice, or the organization of your choice. A memorial service will be held on Monday December 22, 2014 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church in Belton, TX with Pastor Rebecca Fox Nuelle officiating.
